Here’s the Book Promo Video I created, which tells you a little more about my new children’s fantasy book, The Land in the Woods. It is for ages 9-12, and is an adventure story about three children that includes Christian themes.

You never know what adventure is waiting for you in the woods.
While exploring the woods near their house, Janine, Maurie, and Bobby Wells find a portal to a magical land. This new land has strange laws and magical creatures, and a looming threat of encroaching darkness. The children are summoned to appear before the King of the land, to receive His protection.
As the children escape danger and villains and meet the mysterious and kind Prince, they wrestle with questions of justice, forgiveness, and mercy.
This middle grade fantasy novel draws on themes and characters from classics such as Alice in Wonderland; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; Pilgrim’s Progress; and Phantastes.
I always dreamed of being a writer, but never thought I could make money doing it. So, after earning a BA in English and honing my reading, analytical, and writing skills, I settled for a more "stable" career in ministry (joking, of course!), bringing my love for the written word to my Biblical studies as I learned Greek and Hebrew, Exegesis and Theology while getting an MA in Theological Studies.
I've worked in various ministry capacities in the church: children's minister, ministry staff (aka, "whatever needs doing"), ESL teacher, youth intern, and others.
Though this blog is mostly about classic literature, I will probably throw in some thoughts on writing, occasional theological musings, or my reflections on emotional health, psychology, philosophy, or cultural topics. I am a thinker and a lover of many things!
I am currently pursuing publishing my first children's novel while doing freelance writing (my profile here: https://www.upwork.com/o/profiles/users/~0104b8a9e8c1253315/).
I like to paint (and may share some of them here someday!), enjoy the outdoors, learning, reading, and growing. I also love learning about other people and helping them to realize their gifts and potential.

Cool promo. Pre-orders already incoming! From your description before I had a narnia vibe. It’ll be interesting to see how the influence of Pilgrims Progress plays into it. Though full disclosure: I’ve only read the comic version of Pilgrim’s Progress, lol, and did you know there is a board game?!?
Thank you! Yes, my book is from a “stream of influences” to borrow Lewis’ expression. There are also some borrowed characters and place names (Eridu, for example) from different mythologies.
